Childrens Book Fair at the Cummer Museum

Words of Art: A Children's Book Fair
and Literacy Family Day
Saturday, October 1, 2011, 12 to 4 p.m.

Join us for a day filled with art, activities and literature. Meet Jacksonville authors and illustrators while shopping for storybooks, picture books and graphic novels. Enjoy hands on art activities, scavenger hunts and performances by storyteller and musician Ajamu Mutima.

Hourly Author Readings including Brandy Hilboldt Allport, The Florida Times-Union.

Yappy Hour


Yappy Hour Returns


The weather was cloudy
and perfect for dogs


We had a few time outs
 for getting a little too yappy
at Yappy Hour...BOL!


There was a hot dog eating contest
and Augie D was the chosen one
to represent the 3 Goobers.
He qualified for the
small dog category.
There were 10 dogs... 
a Morkie, a Chiweenie, a Poodle and a Pug
were among the contenders.
We figured that the Pug
would be Augie's biggest competition.



The Poodle won.
Oh the shame...

It's time for Pet Walk at the Florida Theatre.

The Florida Theatre opens it's doors to the dogs.
Take a cushy seat and enjoy the dog show on stage

Florida Theatre – The 6th Annual Pet Walk™ promotes pet health, pet art, pet adoptions, pet safety and local author, C.L. Enuton, will be signing books, Angel in a Fur Coat, a fiction fantasy novel and the picture book: Li Li The True Story of a Goober

Hemming Plaza – View pet-inspired art and visit tables by Friends of Jacksonville Animals and First Coast No More Homeless Pets, Inc.

Central Fire Station – The Springfield Animal Care and Rescue Club.

HAS Art Solutions – Hosts “View from the Leash,” photographic scenes of North Florida and beyond.

111 E. Bay St. Studios – Features “Animal Instinct” by F13RCE Dance Theatre at 7 p.m.

Snyder Memorial - Adopt your new best friend from Animal Care & Protective Services and help them win the ASPCA $100K Challenge. Dress your dog in style with Petite Pet bandanas and accessories.
